Multimedia message

I meant to post this earlier. It's Chi and I on our helicopter ride! Acadian Ambulance has several helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. We happened to get lucky one day when we were at the hospital visiting my dad. It was awesome!

My Little Farmer!

Mark and Malachi are heading out to work on our new garden. Chi loves to play in the dirt! Typical little boy, I suppose! With all the rain we've had, we thought it would be a good idea to have him wear his rubber boots. I think he's adorable!

12 years and my heart still breaks

12 years ago today, one of my dearest friends, Blaine David Smith, passed away at age 15. It still breaks my heart to this day to not have him here with us. My son, Malachi Blaine, is named after my friend. Losing Blaine was my first real experience with death. I did not like it. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. Sometimes with smiles. Sometimes with tears. And sometimes, with a rueful laugh at the antics of small children. I miss you, Blaine. And I love you always. You're always with me in my memories.

Hello!

I guess I figured since everyone else was doing it, why not? LOL At any rate, my friends and family can keep up with us through this blog, and know about our happenings. Or at least, the ones I choose to share!

A little bit of background on us. Mark and I got married June 28, 2003 at Maplewood Church of Christ in Sulphur, LA. This has been my church home my entire life, and Mark had been coming there with me for about the last year or so. After we got married, we moved to Baton Rouge so that Mark could continue to manage the Chick-fil-A in the Mall of Louisiana. We moved back "home" in January of 2004 due to my dad's health. Mark started working at a sign shop in Lake Charles, and I stayed home to take care of my dad. Later that year, after finding out that we were expecting our first child, Mark passed his state and national registry exams to become an EMT Basic. He began working at Acadian Ambulance on February 14, 2005, just 3 days after we welcomed our precious 6 pound 14 ounce Malachi Blaine into our little family. In the summer of 2007, Mark passed his state and national registry exams to become an EMT Paramedic. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments!

I am still a stay at home mom. We are currently expecting our second (and final) addition to our family. Another boy, who will be named at a later time. Of course, we also have Frank, our miniature dachshund who adopted us August of 2003. Then came Stein the summer of 2007, followed by Ruff in March of 2008. I can honestly say that with the addition of "baby Fontaine", our little family will be quite complete!
